Check out this video on YouTube:

replace "cocaine" with any of the million things we think we need, but that really enslave us to the system of consumerism. a system that impoverishes many and enriches a few.

Birthdays are reminders of where we've been
tears and passions,
triumphs and sin.
at these times we assess,
the things that bind us
and the things that we possess.
our frailty and shortcomings
but more importantly our progress.
but as a objective observer,
with humble speculation.
i can't help but to think,
of your 24 year gestation.
so, burst forth
with the best that has yet to be
fly, dance and love
with the abandon of the free.
worry is for the faithless
guilt is for the chaste-less
let none of it wet your wings
reject all burdens
and receive your gift
the painless wisdom of your intuition
on this anniversary of your birth
having all manner of introspection
remember only the joy and mirth

Free American Radio

The 'Illusion' of Freedom will continue, just as long as it is profitable to continue The Illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will simply, take down all of the scenery, they will draw back all of the curtains, they will move out of the way all of the tables and the chairs, and then you will see nothing left, but the dark, thick, brick wall, looking out at you at the back of the theater.' - Frank Zappa"

"everything is a shadow of the real. sex is the shadow of love, a man is a shadow of God. existence itself, is a shadow of life. all the combined knowledge of men are but a shadow of the truth. how do i deal with this agnostic state of being......Faith"

Perfect peace is acceptance and knowledge by belief. Acceptance of rights and wrongs and belief in God's provision. If a perfect man (Christ being my ensample) can accept injustice (having all power in His hand), how is it that I cannot (vanity)? I find it a remarkable thing that my avoidance of pain IS the cause of my pain (mental/spiritual anguish). Acceptance however, delivers me from this death (and all things short of it), nullifying it's power over me. By contrast, attempted avoidance and/or disassociation (i.e. nonacceptance), is a million deaths, from which there is no return. With acceptance there is also a death, but of a thing that impedes all serenity; which is vanity. But with this death there is renewal and rebirth, because the impediment to acceptance has been removed. The fire of circumstance has a refining potential if the dross of vanity is removed, returning to the purified silver of perfect peace forevermore.
